Handy Butterfly Crib Sheet
So now our local moth and butterfly expert John Portess has been hard at work again, this time creating a handy crib sheet of our butterflies. It's a work in progress, but we've decided to publish it now so you can use it to identify the odd butterfly you might see now, and to have it on hand for next season.

And thanks John!!
Unlike may other villages Shamley Green is fortunate in not being totally surrounded by intensive agriculture. There can still be found, albeit in dwindling numbers, most of our traditional countryside butterflies within a short walk of the green, and SGEG and friends have helped by improving the local habitat for butterflies with all their efforts to increase biodiversity in our gardens and on our commons.
